Chad Lerash is Global Campaigns Program Manager at Micro Focus and a motorsports fanatic. This, the second post in his series following Jaguar TCS Racing in Season 9 of the Formula E championship, comes on the eve of the upcoming Round 2 race in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
New year, new car
The most prevalent change I’ve encountered while working from home is I’m putting significantly fewer miles on my car. My SUV is now somewhat of a driveway decoration–she’s 15 years old, has over 200k miles, and is barely functional. It’s time to let her go, so 2023 will be my Year of the Car.
Perhaps I’ll test drive a few models from a particular British luxury brand?
Next-gen racing
Speaking of new cars, Formula E and the FIA introduced the new Gen3 race cars for Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. This generation of car is the first to be exclusively designed and optimized for street racing.
Jaguar TCS Racing’s new Gen3 model is the Jaguar I-TYPE 6. Not only is this Jaguar’s most advanced and efficient all-electric race car ever but it is also the fastest. Thanks to an increase in power and a decrease in weight, the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 is capable of a top speed of 200 mph! See it in action this weekend as Jaguar TCS Racing drivers Sam Bird and Mitch Evans hit the circuit in the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 for a doubleheader in Diriyah.
That’s not all. The Jaguar I-TYPE 6 will also feature at our Virtual Garage Tour in Cape Town on February 23. James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal and Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport, will lead the virtual tour live from the garage. He will show off the new car, share what the team does to prepare for race day, and highlight how Micro Focus technologies help keep the Jaguar TCS Racing team competitive on the track.
